A new kitchen benchtop without a full kitchen renovation.

If your doors, drawers and cabinet layout are still serviceable, replacing the benchtop can be one of the most visible upgrades you can make without pulling the whole kitchen apart.

Keep what works. Replace what dates the room.

A benchtop occupies a large visual plane in the kitchen. Changing a worn, dark or dated surface can alter the feel of the room while leaving the expensive cabinet carcasses and layout in place.

A replacement is a good candidate when

  • The cabinets are structurally sound.
  • The existing layout still suits how you use the kitchen.
  • You are happy to retain or separately update the doors and splashback.
  • The sink and cooktop locations are staying broadly consistent.

What should be reviewed before ordering?

Measure the existing tops, but do not assume those measurements are the final fabrication dimensions. Existing walls can be out of square, backsplashes can conceal gaps, and old tops may overhang uneven cabinetry. We prefer to review the layout and product before final cuts are committed.

Planning a staged renovation? Benchtop replacement can be combined with new handles, doors, panels, sink, tapware or splashback work, but sequencing matters. Tell us what else is changing so the benchtop is not installed too early.

Supply options

Use your own suitable benchtop product, or ask us about made-to-order Polytec laminate options. We can also review whether your chosen worktop is appropriate for the planned joins and cut-outs before installation.

Common questions

Kitchen refresh, answered.

Do I need to replace my splashback at the same time?

Not necessarily, but it's worth planning sequencing together — see the callout above. If the splashback is staying, we check the join line and clearance before the new benchtop is cut.

Can this be done in a day?

A single-run replacement often can be. Multi-section jobs, extra joins or wall scribing can extend this — see our installation process page for a realistic timeline.

Will the new benchtop match my existing cabinet height?

We check existing heights and overhangs on site so the replacement sits correctly against your current cabinetry, appliances and splashback.
