Why we do not just charge by the metre.
A 3.6m straight benchtop with no cut-outs can be easier than a 2.0m L-shaped top with a join, sink, cooktop and walls requiring scribing. Metres describe material quantity; they do not accurately describe installation labour or risk.
Example replacement
Two site-cut sections totalling about 3.6 metres, one join, one standard sink cut-out, minor scribing, removal and disposal of a standard existing top generally lands around $1,100–$1,200 under the current calculator, before any unusual site conditions.
Use the calculator for budgeting, not contracting. The final price is confirmed only after we review photos, dimensions, material, sink/cooktop details, access and the condition of the existing cabinets.
